It's just another Astec fun day
Our latest team building event brings a nice change of scenery
Our annual team building day tradition rolled around again where everyone throws their idea into the hat to find us something a bit different to do.
And this year we ended up swapping our usual spots for something completely different: outdoor activities.
No horses, no whisky, just us versus the great outdoors.
Getting Muddy (and Competitive)
This year’s day out had something for everyone:
Mega Swing – Turns out engineers can scream just as loud as anyone else when they’re flying through the air. Who knew?
Obstacle Course – Hoping our problem-solving skills would come in handy, staying upright on a tightrope was definitely a new challenge!
Archery – Finally, an activity where our steady hands actually gave us an advantage. Some of us discovered hidden talents we never knew we had.
Raft Building – Watching our engineering minds try to build something seaworthy was brilliant. Let’s just say some designs worked better than others. And yes, there were a few unexpected swims.
Four Years of Random Adventures
Looking back, our lucky dip has taken us on quite the journey.
Two trips to the Haydock Park Racecourse taught us that being good with numbers doesn’t help you pick winners. Last year’s whisky distillery tour had our Scottish MD Eddie Young questioning whether the English actually know what they’re doing with whisky (we’re still not sure he’s convinced).
This year proved that getting muddy together builds just as much team spirit as cheering on horses or sampling malts.
Please enjoy our photos!
Why our Team Building Days Matter
These annual team building days remind us that the best work happens when you actually like the people you’re working with. Whether someone’s cheering you on while you try to aim an arrow or laughs along as you tackle a tightrope, our team building days help support the relationships that make things in the workshop flow better.
Plus, the lucky dip means everyone gets a say – like how we work on projects where every opinion matters.
What’s Next?
We’re already wondering what next year’s draw will bring. Back to the races? Another distillery adventure? Or something completely new that none of us saw coming?
Whatever it is, we’re looking forward to it. Here’s to another year of good engineering, good teamwork – and the occasional bit of friendly competition!
